Ali Fakhrmousavi

Biography

Ali Fakhrmosavi, a screenwriter and film director, was born in Iran in 1978. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Dramatic Literature from the University of Art and Architecture in Tehran, Iran, and immigrated to Europe in 2002. He earned his Master of Arts degree in Cinema from the Kyiv National I. K. Karpenko-Kary Theatre, Cinema and Television University and has been professionally active in the film, television, and even media industries for more than 20 years. He has lived in seven countries and resided in Europe from 2002 to 2023, pursuing his professional activities in cinema, television, and writing through collaborations with prominent European television channels and the creation of numerous series and various episodes. In 2023, to continue his cinematic journey, he moved to Canada and currently resides in Vancouver, British Columbia. In 2015, Ali Fakhrmosavi filmed his first feature film in Ukraine. This cinematic production, a joint venture of the Czech Republic, Iran, and Ukraine, was showcased at various international film festivals worldwide in 2016, resulting in numerous awards from these festivals. This film, titled “Autumn Memories,” narrates a love story on the Ukrainian border and was filmed entirely in Ukrainian, with some parts in English. Ali Fakhrmosavi’s unique perspective, which combines Eastern storytelling with Western techniques and emphasizes contemporary humanity and the differences and similarities between people, garnered the attention of most audiences and film critics from different countries. Subsequently, this film continued its success with its public release in cinemas in Ukraine and then in other countries, ultimately achieving considerable success for Ali Fakhrmosavi. His second feature film, titled “The Blue Land,” was made in Iran in 2020, and in the same year, after the completion of the film’s technical aspects, it participated in several international film festivals in various parts of the world, bringing awards to Ali Fakhrmosavi.
