He studied the art of photography at the Leonardo da Vinci Institute, worked as a painter, and turned to cinema in the forties as an assistant director through the Association of Actors and Cinema Supporters. His beginning was with the pioneer of Egyptian cinema, Mohamed Koriem, with whom he worked in all his films. His first film was Without Farewell (1951). He specialized in directing social romantic films. He directed a large number of films that starred Magda during the period from 1954 to 1960, including Our Green Land, Teenagers, and Let Me Live. The post-Magda stage of his career included the films Schoolgirl's Diary, and Without a Date. He passed away on March 23, 1976, after a career full of important films in the history of Egyptian cinema.
