Despite the distance from major film studios, Villaverde actively promotes regional filmmaking on prestigious national platforms like Cinema Rehiyon and Cinemalaya. Since 2022, he has been a prominent figure in his local film community, earning accolades such as Best Film and Best Director at the Dipolog Film Festival and SineNorte Film Festival.
