She has a strong background in theater, including off-Broadway performances and extensive work in regional theaters across the U.S. On television, Gibney is known for roles such as Dr. Leah Brahms on "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and Commander (later Captain) Erika Benteen on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine."
